Mission accomplished.

چکیده

Recent suggestions by policy makers, economists, and competitors that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae posed increasing risks due to size, structure, and behavior have led many to question whether the government sponsored enterprises (GSEs) had fulfilled their mission and outlived their usefulness. While appealing to contemplate more competition in the secondary mortgage market, there is, in fact, no reasonable alternative structure that addresses effectively the many concerns voiced by critics. With the two most frequently suggested alternatives, privatization or multiple charters, taxpayers would still bear risk. In fact, under these alternatives, the risks to taxpayers might increase while homeowners and investors would both stand to lose the benefits brought by the GSEs. The GSEs continue to perform well, continue to innovate, and continue to provide benefits to U.S mortgage markets and homeowners. Many of the benefits now realized in mortgage markets would diminish or cease in the absence of the GSEs.

Reliability of demand-based phased-mission systems subject to fault level coverage

In many real-world applications, a mission may consist of several different tasks or phases that have to be accomplished in sequence. Such systems are referred to as phased-mission systems (PMS). In this paper we consider the demand-based PMS with parallel structure, where the system components function in parallel with different capacities in each phase of the mission and the mission is succes...

A Model-Based Approach for Reliability Assessment in Component- Based Systems

This paper describes a formal framework for reliability assessment of component-based systems with respect to specific missions. A mission comprises of different timed mission stages, with each stage requiring a number of highlevel functions. The work presented here describes a modeling language to capture the functional decomposition and missions of a system. The components and their alternati...
